transformation in the practitioner so that he or she
becomes capable of truly helping others. Deep, solitary
retreat is extremely conducive for this to take place.

	What’s this retreat all about?
	We are all seeking happiness in this life. We have tried and tried with the methods taught to us by our parents, schools, and society. Nothing is working . . . That is why our Spiritual Director Venerable Sumati Marut has asked that we prepare for and actualize a traditional long-term retreat starting in fall of 2010. In the retreat, Lama Marut and some of his close students (the “Mahasukha Kula”) will have the best conditions possible for gaining the realizations that end suffering not just for themselves but for others. Training for the retreat has been going on for the past several years and will continue.

	Why should you care?
	When the retreatants come out, they will be some of the most qualifi ed teachers in the world to help you end not just some of your own unhappiness but all of it. Why is this? Having achieved deep spiritual insights and realizations themselves, practitioners will be able to teach it to you from a foundation of direct experience.

	What are we asking for?
	This is a huge undertaking. Here are some of the logistical needs: • Find and acquire use of a suitable site of extreme solitude • Build retreat cabins and infrastructure if not already existing • Support for up to 10-15 long-term retreatants • Support for the caretakers for the retreatants
